Gokwe cotton farmers optimistic of a bumper harvest

Cotton farmers in Gokwe are optimistic of a bumper harvest, with the crop having reached budding stage, thanks to the timely disbursement of inputs and good rains received this summer cropping season.
The cotton crop in Gokwe is looking good after government disbursed inputs on time while the good rains have come as a blessing to farmers of the white gold which has reached budding stage.
State entity COTTCO took time to spell out the benefits to be accrued from the cotton crop this season, with officials saying if the rains continue to pound at the current rate, a bumper harvest is guaranteed.
The Second Republic deliberately embarked on a drive to rescue the Cotton sector through the climate proof Pfumvudza/ Intwasa programme where farmers were allocated free inputs towards production of the crop.
