Construction of mausoleum for late icon Mugabe begins

The construction of a mausoleum for former President Robert Mugabe has started, with preparatory work at the site under way, while work on the design is still to be completed.

The late icon who died several days ago in Singapore where he was being treated for five months was yesterday mourned at his rural home in Zvimba.

Last weekend leaders from the African continent and beyond came to pay their last respects to Comrade Mugabe at the national sports stadium.

Upon deliberations between the government and the Mugabe family, it was agreed upon that the national hero will be buried at the National heroes acre after construction of a mausoleum for him has been completed.

Meanwhile he will lie in state at a mortuary.
