Fire guts down Ascot High School block in Gweru
An administration block at Ascot High School in Gweru was gutted by fire last night, and the headmaster’s office was burnt to ashes in the process.
Everything in the headmaster’s office, including furniture, receipt books and other important documents were destroyed to ashes by the fire.
The fire was first discovered by the school’s security officer, who went on to alert the relevant authorities.
He was assisted by the city of Gweru’s fire department to put it out before it destroyed the whole administration block.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but reports say it could have been caused by an electrical fault which emanated from the headmaster’s office.
No deaths or injuries were reported from the incident.
