National Hero, Ndlovu’s body expected in the country tomorrow

The body of the late national hero, Professor Callistus Dingiswayo Ndlovu is expected to arrive in the country from South Africa tomorrow.

On arrival, the body will be taken to his home in Khumalo, Bulawayo where it will lie in state.

Sister to the late national hero, Ms Jane Ndlovu said the family want his body taken home in Sanzukwe in Mangwe, Matabeleland South Province before a church service whose venue is yet to be decided in Bulawayo, after which the body will be flown to Harare for burial at the national shrine.

“My brother was a man of the people at our rural home so we want his body taken home so that his people will bid him farewell,” she said.

The family has indicated that Saturday could be the burial date given that some of the children who are abroad are expected home on Thursday.

Professor Ndlovu died in South Africa last Wednesday  at Netcare Pinehaven Hospital for Pancreatic cancer and was on Friday declared a national hero.

At the time of his death he was the Zanu PF Bulawayo provincial chairperson and was also a former cabinet minister.

Professor Ndlovu is survived by his wife Angeline, four children, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mourners are gathered at number 3 Fletcher Avenue in Khumalo, Bulawayo.
